Decorating Bag Take 1

I have been wanting to try a decorating bag for some time. I finally found one that was cheap enough so I thought I would try my hand at decorating.

Here I am with everything ready to go!

I started with a Pillsbury Funfetti mix because I always have one on hand(it's my husband's favorite cake) and a can of white frosting.

Mixing the batter

In the oven they go!!

I decided to try and make two-toned frosted cupcakes. Probably not the smartest thing to do since it was my first time using a decorating bag but I thought I would give it a shot. I absolutely love the Betty Crocker classic gel food colors.

I was hoping for prettier colors but I only had yellow and green left.

Hmmm....I don't think this is supposed to happen when you are using a decorating bag. Looks like I need a lot more practice.

The finished product!

I also decided to do white cupcakes with sprinkles.

I think they turned out pretty good for my first attempt!

a little about us....

We are Kayla and Melissa and we are two co-workers who, together thanks to blogs like bakerella and a lot of google image searching cool baking ideas, have become very interested in baking. We are by no means professionals, but it is our hope that after a lot of practice and maybe a couple of classes that we will be darn close. We would really love your comments and if you have an idea that you would like us to try we would be more than willing to give it a whirl and then see if we can give some hints or tricks for our readers!

The First Annual 4th of July Bake-Off

So we had our first bake-off for the 4th of July in our office. We have a feeling that there will be more bake-offs to come for future holidays too :)

Melissa's Entry "All American Cookout"

Kayla's Entry "Firecracker Cupcakes"-with pop rocks on top!

And the winner was.............KAYLA!!!!!

We will be posting recipes for both coming soon!
